ABOUT FALL KILL

Fall Kill Creative Works runs two studio spaces in Poughkeepsie, NY: The Clay Studio and The Glebe House. Our mission is to foster creativity and community through accessible art and craft education.

OUR SPACES

  • CLAY STUDIO

    The Clay Studio, located at 485 Main Street in Poughkeepsie, NY, is a volunteer-run community space offering weekly classes & workshops led by local experts. It's the home of everything clay & ceramic, featuring clay classes & open studio sessions. Our bright, well-lit studio includes 10 pottery wheels, 4 hand-building tables, a slab roller, an extruder, 3 electric kilns, and a range of community tools.

  • GLEBE HOUSE

    Glebe House, located at 635 Main Street in Poughkeepsie, NY, is where we host most of our non-clay classes and workshops, including weaving, dyeing, printmaking, sewing, gardening & quilting, all taught by local experts. With its historic barn loom, a range of materials for weaving, sewing, dyeing, and quilting & an extensive outdoor space, Glebe House is ideal for exploring heritage crafts.

OUR MISSION

Fall Kill Creative Works is a nonprofit community studio that provides high-quality educational programming and a rich studio environment in the Mid-Hudson Valley region of New York.

We believe in the power of making, and encourage the confidence and tenacity to imagine, attempt, fail, and try again. Our programs include workshops, classes, studio access, artist lectures, and demonstrations, all led by a diverse community of instructors and makers. 

We're committed to equity and removing financial barriers, guided by generosity in sharing knowledge and resources so that everyone can experience the joy of making.

MEET OUR TEAM

  • ERIC EHRNSCHWENDER

    STUDIO DIRECTOR

    Eric discovered ceramics early on at his local community art center in southwest Ohio. He has a graduate degree in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art, has worked as an artist assistant and studio coordinator on multiple continents but you’ll usually find him heads down in the kiln room or helping folks figure out ways to make improbable things.

  • JENNAWAY PEARSON

    ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

    Jennaway Pearson is a printmaker and book artist, interested in making work about American sports culture. Jennaway has a graduate degree from the Corcoran College of Art & Design, and has spend the last decade teaching at universities and community studios. You can usually find Jennaway drinking a coffee and typing away at the studio.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER + STUDIO ASSISTANT

    Fall Kill Creative Works is hiring a Studio Assistant and Social Media Manager!  This position requires familiarity with ceramic techniques and studio practices and a passion for thoughtful and innovative content creation. This position is 20 hours monthly, 15 hours will be in the studio, with five hours of remote flexibility. Compensation is $25/hour.

    The ideal candidate will have

     -A flexible schedule: available for weekend special events and during the week (both evening and daytime) for generating content, answering messages, etc

    -Experience generating content in a variety of formats

    -Excellent communication skills, comfortable approaching and working with instructors, artists, and students in the studio

    -Enjoys working collaboratively and is capable of working independently

    -Experience working in a ceramic studio: familiarity with wheel and handbuilding processes and firing

    -Experience working on a variety of platforms, including Instagram and BlueSky

FALL KILL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Fall Kill Creative Works Board of Directors is looking to recruit new members who are leaders in and advocates for access to art education and community spaces. We seek individuals who are dedicated to the organization’s mission and can provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance.

TUITION ASSISTANCE
