Teen and Family Clay is back!
We are thrilled to bring back our free summer youth program, made possible by generous support from the City of Poughkeepsie!
Teen & Family Clay is a weekly drop-in series designed for young ones, families, and caregivers to explore clay together in a fun and supportive environment. Each week offers a new hands-on project led by local teaching artists, with opportunities to try pinching, coiling, slab building, wheel throwing, glazing, and more. These sessions are a great way to slow down, connect, and enjoy the creative process. After each workshop, we’ll have a free meal from a local Poughkeepsie restaurant and celebrate what we’ve made together!

EXPLORING UNDERGLAZES
THIS CLASS IS PART OF AN 8 WEEK SERIES
Exploring Underglazes is a surface focused class that will explore all the possibilities working with underglazes. This course will work with velvet underglazes, pencils, and chalks and teach painting and layering techniques, washes, methods of combining underglazes with studio glazes, and underglaze transfers.

INTRO TO WHEEL
THIS CLASS IS PART OF AN 8 WEEK SERIES
Intro to Wheel will cover the foundational techniques of wedging clay, throwing basic cup or bowl forms, trimming, adding handles, and glazing. It’s a great introduction (or a refresher!) to throwing on the wheel and working in a community studio.

YOUTH HANDBUILDING / ADULT INTRO TO WHEEL
THIS CLASS IS PART OF A 6 WEEK SERIES
These are offered as separate classes held at the same time in neighboring classrooms and are intended to offer both caregivers and their children an opportunity to take a class.
