OUR CLAY BODIES

  • 240 WHITE STONEWARE

  • 112 SPECKLED BROWN

  • 308 BROOKLYN RED

Fall Kill stocks three clay bodies: Standard 240 white stoneware, Standard 112 speckled brown, and Standard 308 Brooklyn red. The white stoneware is our smoothest clay, well suited to throwing on the wheel. The speckled brown is a beautiful all rounder- good for handbuilding and throwing, and Brooklyn red has the most grog in it, so is our best handbuilding clay.

MATERIAL FEES - $5 for a 10-pound bag of reclaimed clay, subject to availability. $16 for a 25-pound bag of fresh clay
FIRING FEES - $0.06 per cubic inch, typically averaging between $3 to $5 for objects of mug size.

STUDIO FAQ

  • On a limited case by case basis, we do rent kilns- The typical time when it makes sense to rent a kiln is if you want to try some specialty glaze that needs a specific firing schedule. Note that kiln rental is subject to availability, and is not guaranteed to be available, especially during our busy seasons.

  • You’ll need to email Eric our studio manager, to make sure that your clay and glazes are compatible with our firing processes.

Please make sure to include photos of clay and glaze labels.
