Class Description:
Creating handles can be a challenging component of pottery making. A good handle suits your cup aesthetically while maintaining balance and comfort. In this one-day workshop, students will use a variety of techniques to create and attach handles to their previously built cups. We will go over how to make strong attachments and how to refine them or make them more elaborate. This workshop is intended for current students and studio members who are able to make cups in class or during open studio, and is not just for beginners but anyone interested in improving their handles. Students must bring vessels (handbuilt or thrown and trimmed) at the leather hard stage to attach handles to. Participants may bring as many pieces as they would like and are not limited to just mugs and teacups.
