Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced contract grant writer to help maintain and grow our portfolio of foundation, state, and local grants. This contractor will collaborate with the Artistic Director and Studio Director to write compelling proposals, prepare reports, and identify funding opportunities aligned with our mission.
This is an independent-contractor position with flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Strategy
Identify deadlines, renewal opportunities, and new funders
Maintain a grants calendar
Assess alignment and feasibility with staff
Grant Writing
Draft and revise compelling narratives grounded in our mission, values, and community impact
Prepare letters of inquiry, full proposals, and attachments
Work with the Artistic Director to refine language and context
Reporting
Prepare narrative reports, collect needed documentation, and ensure timely submission
Collaborate with the Administrative Coordinator to gather program data (student numbers, zip codes, annual participation snapshots)and community care
Core Compentancies
Strong, clear narrative writing skills
Familiarity with foundation and government funding structures
Ability to synthesize information from multiple staff members
Collaborative communication style
Reliably meets deadlines and manages multiple projects
Sensitivity to inclusive, community-centered language
Required Qualifications
At least 2–3 years of grant writing experience (arts fields preferred)
Demonstrated success securing foundation or government funding
High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
Work Environment
Hybrid: work includes on-site meetings, instructor coordination, events, and occasional remote work for scheduling, writing, and planning.
Reports to the Board of Directors (collaborates closely with Studio Director).
