FORAGING BACKPACK BASKETS

  • Glebe House 635 Main Street Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601 United States (map)

With Jesica Clark - Two sessions, in person. (Saturday 16th November + Sunday 17th November, 2024 9am - 5pm)

THIS CLASS IS A WEEKEND SERIES

In this weekend workshop, experienced willow weavers can learn a new project, a small backpack perfect for taking on foraging hikes or on a trip to the market. Students will learn and practice weaving an oval base, review various side weaves while focusing on shaping up the basket, and then finish with some leatherwork for the straps. Students are also welcome to bring their own backpack straps to incorporate into the basket.

This course is designed for intermediate willow weaving students only. Students should be familiar with pairing/reverse pairing, waling weaves, at least one side weave/randing weave, and should be able to weave a round basket on their own. Willow can be a challenge to work with, and physically engaging, this class may be difficult for a person with hand issues. This class includes a lunch break each day.
