HANDBUILT BODIES

$345.00

Instructor:Jenna Pyzowski
Duration: 8 Sessions
Dates:  Sundays, August 16-October 04, 2026
Time: 6:00PM - 8:30PM
Location: Clay Studio, 485 Main Street, Poughkeepsie
Level: Intermediate

Class Description:
Following an incredibly inspiring first session, we're excited to bring Handbuilt Bodies back as we continue building figure sculpture into one of Fall Kill's core offerings.

In this intermediate sculptural class, students will explore the human figure through clay, using a combination of coil and slab construction to build a hollow form that is pinched, stretched, and refined through carving at the leather-hard stage. Along the way, we'll study proportion, anatomy, gesture, and facial features while exploring a variety of approaches to surface treatment beyond traditional glazing. Students will focus on developing one final sculpture, with the complexity of each piece guided by individual experience and artistic vision.

Prior clay experience is strongly recommended, as this class requires a working understanding of how clay behaves through the different stages of making. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Included:
Unlimited Open Studio time during the class
12 lbs of fresh clay
Shared shelf space
