PRINTING ON CLAY

$365.00

Instructor: Alexis Babian
Duration: 8 Sessions
Dates: Saturdays, August 22 - October 10, 2026
Time: 10:00AM - 12:30PM
Location: Clay Studio, 485 Main Street, Poughkeepsie
Level: All Levels

Class Description:
We are so excited to launch this new program with multi-media artist & instructor Alexis Babian! This 8-week, all levels class explores the intersection of printmaking and ceramics, offering a deep dive into techniques for transferring image, pattern, and narrative onto clay. Designed for both potters and printmakers, this course builds fluency across materials; inviting you to think about clay as a printing surface, and print as an integral part of form.

Students will develop a personal visual language while learning multiple methods for creating repeatable, layered surface design. The class will be anchored around creating your own silk screens to print your own underglaze transfers. Many other techniques will come up along the way!

One week we will take a field trip over to our textiles studio, Glebe House, to use the exposure unit to create our own screens! Please note, Glebe House is not handicap accessible. Reach out if this may be a barrier for you and we can make a plan.

Included:
Unlimited Open Studio time during the class
Silkscreen to use during the course
Underglaze for printing
12 lbs of fresh clay
Shared shelf space
